Each day, I reflect upon a word or a phrase inspired by the readings of the day. I encourage you to do the same and perhaps incorporate that word or phrase into your daily prayer.
He testified with many other arguments, and was exhorting them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” (Acts 2:36-41)
CORRUPT GENERATION: Scripture never loses it’s relevance. This message is as relevant to us today as it was to the Jews to whom Peter directed it.
Do we go down the wrong path because of our self-centeredness, greed, or desire for immediate gratification? Are we responding to the call of the material secular world and ignoring our call to holiness?
We “save ourselves from a corrupt generation” when we live the Gospel message: To love God with all of our hearts and to love others as ourselves.
A simple message, but one that can easily get lost in an “it’s all about me” world.
