Each day, I reflect upon a word or a phrase from the readings of the day. I encourage you to do the same and perhaps incorporate that word or phrase into your daily prayer.
“Is a lamp brought in to be placed under a bushel basket or under a bed, and not to be placed on a lamp stand? The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you, and still more will be given to you.” (Mark 4:21-25)
UNDER A BUSHEL BASKET: God gives each one of us incredible gifts, and we have an obligation to share those gifts – to let them shine brightly for the world to see.
If we have a beautiful voice, we need to sing. If we have artistic ability, we need to draw, paint, or sculpt something beautiful to share with the world. If we are gifted academically, we need to put those gifts to work. If we have leadership gifts, we need to lead.
If we do not share these gifts, if we hide them under a bushel basket, we are being selfish.
Don’t reject these beautiful gifts from God.
